Good and Bad Design Examples:
GOOD DESIGN:
This is what I thought of when I was reading about good design. When I lived in Germany we had windows and balcony doors that opened like this. The design is that they open in two ways, one is like "cracking" the window and the other is a fully opened window option. We really enjoyed being able to open the windows like this. It especially came in handy in my baby girl's room. She had nearly floor to ceiling windows and we could open them just at the top which made her room safer. These style of window also opened and closed easily and it closed really well and didn't allow for drafts. German craftsmanship… hard to go wrong.

BAD DESIGN:
Here is an example of bad design: the photo should be attached but I can't see it (this is not my example of bad design but perhaps it could be).
We have a pool in our neighborhood that has a deep end and a deeper end. 19 families share the pool. These families include many toddlers and babies who are learning to swim. Due to the fact that the so called "shallow end" is up to my nose, myself and many other moms and some dads can't help their children learn to swim.
The design of a pool for a family community should allow for multiple ages to access and enjoy the pool. This pool seems that it was meant for a gym or workout center where people mainly do laps and exercise. Thinking about your consumer/user is important when determining your form.
